John and David Grant (100% real Kiwi men) started a small company SPEC OPS in one the best countries in the whole world, New Zealand. Special Operations New Zealand was the outlet to enable John and David to start developing projects in a knowledge and ideas rich place, right here in New Zealand.

3D Workflow Project

The big idea:

Enabling design teams to collaborate in 3D over the internet or local networks using modular in-expensive systems that plug into existing 3D design applications and workflows.

How is it going to work:

Enabled 3D workflows allow designers to not only collaborate with internal team members more efficiently, they can also publish their designs to the internet. This allows clients, external contractors, and the wider public a chance to visit 3D information from their iPhones, or any modern Personal Computer (Apple Mac and PC alike). This is invaluable on large projects where many people all over the world need to connect and provide feedback on design decisions. This unique way of sharing 3D information in an interactive fashion from multiple platforms, iPhone through to PCs and the Mac, is all possible by proprietary software you may already be using. If you are already receiving cadastral information from a local government or Google Earth, and you're using this to build 3D models with a current CAD package like, AutoCAD or ArchiCAD, then you already have information ready to share with others. The magic is in the transfer of this information to internet, and that is where SPEC OPS comes in. We provide the missing link to leverage great web based technologies that until now were just out of reach of your traditional 3D applications.
